Attention all writers, poets, and creative professionals - Amtrak recently launched a program that you don’t want to miss out on. Inspired by an interview with author Alexander Chee in which he dishes on how a train is one of the best places for uninterrupted creativity, NYC-based writer Jessica Gross tweeted “I wish Amtrak had residencies for writers.”
And with the power of social media, Jessica’s — and so many other writers’ — dreams came true. Amtrak now offers #AmtrakResidency, which takes writers on long-distance train rides accommodating them with a private sleeper car, desk and window to gaze out of. Writers with an itch for travel have from March 17, 2014 ‘til March 31, 2014 to apply. And best of all, the program is free.
