Kickstarter has revolutionized the way that products get funded, but it’s not without its challenges.
Recently a pen called the Torr appeared on Fab.com, and had more than a striking resemblance to the Pen Type-A, a massively successful Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $281,000 for the founders (well above their $2,500 goal).
As NOTCOT discovered, the story involved a former business partner, overseas manufacturing challenges, and potential intellectual property issues, not unlike the James Bond movie spoof that Torr made to market itself.
Make sure to check out NOTCOT for the full details, though hopefully this just serves as a cautionary tale for companies looking to get their start on Kickstarter, and not the beginning of the end for the whole system.
